Centrifugal and Coriolis Force Components Acting on a Fluid Element in a Curved Space Time

چکیده
Defining the four vectors n and τ of Abramowicz’s covariant formalism of inertial forces, in terms of the lapse function α, shift vector β, the metric γij and the velocity 3-vector V , we derive the components of centrifugal and Coriolis accelerations acting on a fluid element with four velocity U. We show that while for purely radial flow the centrifugal acceleration component is zero in static space time, for purely azimuthal flow it is exactly same as in the case of a test particle. However, when both radial and azimuthal components of 3-velocity are non-zero, the centrifugal acceleration shows no reversal outside the event horizon in Schwarzschild geometry.

Derivation of turbulent energy in a rotating system
Energy equation for turbulent flow in a rotating system was derived in terms of second order correlation tensors, where the correlation tensors were functions of space coordinates, distance between two points and time. To reveal the relationship of turbulent energy between two points, one point was taken as origin of the coordinate system. Due to rotation, the Coriolis force played an important...
متن کاملEffect of Coriolis Force on Accretion Flows around Rotating Compact Object
Using the generalised set of fluid equations that include the ‘Coriolis force’ along with the centrifugal and pressure gradient forces, we have reanalysed the class of self similar solutions, with the pseudo-Newtonian potential. We find that the class of solutions is well behaved for almost the entire parameter space except for a few selected combinations of γ and α for the co-rotating flow. Th...
متن کاملEulerian Derivation of the Coriolis Force
In textbooks of geophysical fluid dynamics, the Coriolis force and the centrifugal force in a rotating fluid system are derived by making use of the fluid parcel concept. In contrast to this intuitive derivation to the apparent forces, more rigorous derivation would be useful not only for the pedagogical purpose, but also for the applications to other kinds of rotating geophysical systems rathe...
متن کاملCentrifugal Force and Ellipticity behaviour of a slowly rotating ultra compact object
Using the optical reference geometry approach, we have derived in the following, a general expression for the ellipticity of a slowly rotating fluid configuration using Newtonian force balance equation in the conformally projected absolute 3-space, in the realm of general relativity. Further with the help of Hartle-Thorne (H-T) metric for a slowly rotating compact object, we have evaluated the ...
متن کاملVibrational characteristics of a spinning thermally affected cylindrical shell conveying viscous fluid flow carrying spring-mass systems
In this article, the vibrational behavior of a spinning cylindrical thick shell carrying spring- mass systems and conveying viscos fluid flow under various temperature distributions is investigated. This structure rotates about axial direction and the formulations include the coriolis and centrifugal effects. In addition, this system is conveying viscous fluid, and the related force is calculat...
